How to Measure for Custom Bridal Lace Gloves

How to Measure for Custom Bridal Lace Gloves

Custom bridal lace gloves are a beautiful way to complete your wedding look. They can add softness, elegance, romance, and a perfectly detailed finish to your dress. Whether you are ordering fitted lace gloves, detachable bridal sleeves, or custom lace arm pieces that start from the bicep and finish at the wrist, the most important step is taking accurate measurements.

Because bridal gloves are designed to sit closely on the arm, we need a few key measurements to make sure they fit comfortably and look beautifully tailored. The right measurements help the lace sit smoothly, avoid tightness, prevent slipping, and create a custom finish that feels made just for you.

This guide explains exactly how to measure your arm for custom bridal lace gloves.

    What You Will Need

Before you start, you will need:

    A soft measuring tape

A mirror, or someone to help you

    A relaxed arm position

Your measurements in centimetres or inches

A photo of your arm measurement, if possible

For the best result, we recommend asking someone else to take the measurements for you. This helps make sure the tape is straight and not pulled too tightly.

    Important Tips Before Measuring

When measuring for custom bridal lace gloves, your arm should be relaxed. Do not flex your muscles or pull the measuring tape too tight.

The tape should sit flat against your skin, but it should not dig in. It should feel snug and comfortable.

If your gloves are being made with delicate lace, embroidery, pearls, or beading, accurate measurements are especially important because some lace designs may have limited stretch.

Measurements Needed for Bicep-to-Wrist Bridal Lace Gloves

    1. Upper Arm / Bicep Circumference

This is the measurement around the fullest part of your upper arm. This is usually where the glove or sleeve will begin.

This measurement is very important because it helps make sure the top of the glove fits comfortably. If it is too tight, it may dig into the arm. If it is too loose, it may slip down.

    How to measure:

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your upper arm or bicep. Keep your arm relaxed by your side.

    Measurement needed:

Upper arm / bicep circumference: ______ cm

    2. Glove Starting Point

Before measuring the full length, decide where you want the glove to start.

Some brides prefer the glove to start high on the upper arm, while others prefer it to sit around the mid-bicep or lower bicep. This depends on your dress style and the look you want.

For example, if your dress is strapless or off-shoulder, a higher bicep glove can create a romantic and elegant look. If you prefer something softer and more subtle, a lower bicep start may feel more comfortable.

    How to measure:

Mark the point on your upper arm where you would like the glove to begin. This will also be the point where you take your bicep circumference and start your length measurement.

    Measurement needed:

Glove starting point: High bicep / mid bicep / lower bicep

    3. Elbow Circumference

The elbow measurement helps make sure the glove is comfortable when you move your arm.

This is important because your arm naturally bends at the elbow. If the elbow area is too tight, it may feel uncomfortable. If it is too loose, the lace may bunch or wrinkle.

    How to measure:

Wrap the measuring tape around your elbow. Keep your arm slightly bent in a natural position.

    Measurement needed:

    Elbow circumference: ______ cm

    4. Forearm Circumference

The forearm measurement helps shape the glove between the elbow and the wrist.

The forearm is usually wider than the wrist but narrower than the upper arm, so this measurement helps create a smooth fitted shape.

    How to measure:

Measure around the fullest part of your forearm. This is usually halfway between your elbow and your wrist.

    Measurement needed:

    Forearm circumference: ______ cm

    5. Wrist Circumference

The wrist measurement helps finish the glove neatly at the bottom.

This ensures the lace does not look too loose around the wrist and sits beautifully with your hand and jewellery.

    How to measure:

Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist, just above the wrist bone.

    Measurement needed:

    Wrist circumference: ______ cm

    6. Length from Bicep to Wrist

This is the full length of the bridal lace glove.

It tells us how long the glove needs to be from the starting point on your upper arm down to your wrist.

    How to measure:

Start from the exact point where you want the glove to begin on your bicep. Measure straight down along the outside of your arm to your wrist.

Keep your arm relaxed and slightly straight while measuring.

    Measurement needed:

Length from bicep to wrist: ______ cm

    7. Length from Bicep to Elbow

This measurement is optional, but it is very helpful for a more tailored fit.

It helps us understand exactly where your elbow sits, so the lace can be shaped naturally along your arm.

    How to measure:

Measure from the glove starting point on your bicep down to the centre of your elbow.

    Measurement needed:

Bicep to elbow length: ______ cm

    8. Length from Elbow to Wrist

    This measurement gives extra accuracy.

It helps balance the glove design and make sure the lace placement looks even from top to bottom.

    How to measure:

Measure from the centre of your elbow down to your wrist.

    Measurement needed:

Elbow to wrist length: ______ cm

    Bridal Lace Glove Measurement Checklist

Please provide the following measurements when ordering your custom bridal gloves:

Upper arm / bicep circumference: ______ cm

    Elbow circumference: ______ cm

    Forearm circumference: ______ cm

    Wrist circumference: ______ cm

Length from bicep to wrist: ______ cm

Length from bicep to elbow: ______ cm

Length from elbow to wrist: ______ cm

Glove starting point: High bicep / mid bicep / lower bicep

Preferred fit: Snug / comfortable / slightly relaxed

How Tight Should the Measuring Tape Be?

The measuring tape should sit flat against your skin. It should not be loose, but it should not press into your skin either.

    A good rule is:

Keep the tape snug but comfortable.

Do not pull the tape too tightly.

Do not leave gaps between the tape and your skin.

    Keep your arm relaxed.

Measure twice to make sure it is accurate.
